June 16, 2016 – The Republican presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump, had pushed on putting mosques into surveillance as part of the laws that would protect the Americans from terrorists. This is another campaign that he had raised after his strong move on the total ban of Muslim immigrants in all states of the America. This is in lieu of the recent shooting that had happened in Orlando that killed 49 individuals inside the gay nightclub.
Trump believed that though the killer was born and raised in America, his bloodline and beliefs do not match the country’s ideologies. Trump emphasized that putting mosques and Muslim communities under surveillance enables the government to check on what these people are doing. He feared that the ideologies of these Muslims will soon eat up the country’s principles.
In response to this, the Communications Director of Council on American-Islamic Relations, Ibrahim Hooper, expressed that acts of terrorism such of violence and extremism were never taught in any American mosques, instead, these places of worship has been moderating its influences to Muslims who attend gatherings and prayovers in the said vicinity. Hilary Clinton seconded this side by stating that the presence of Muslims in Americans help in the fight against terrorism.
