June 9, 2016 – The two bombings that had happened in Baghdad which killed 25 people in the process has already been claimed by Islamic State terrorists whose stronghold of Falluja near the capital of the country has been surrounded by forces of Iraqi. These troops have already started advancing towards the surroundings of the city, aiming to take full charge of the vicinity.
According to a Sunni insurgent, one of the attacks has been thoroughly carried out in a car planted with explosives while the second one has been installed in a vest worn by another rebel. These successive attacks have started after a couple number of bombings in Shi’ite district of the country’s capital which killed a number of civilians and militants.
According to history, Falluja has been a stronghold of the Sunni insurgents against U.S. occupation in Iraq and Shi’ite against authorities that had taken over the country. The Finance Minister of the country, Hoshiyar Zebari, believed that it would take quite some time for Falluja stronghold to recover after the successive attacks given that the militants in the area were able to dig tunnels and plant bombs in houses and roads in order to hinder the military from successfully winning over them.
