April 7, 2016 – Texan Senator, Ted Cruz, visited Brighton Beach, Brooklyn in order to make some matzo – the unleavened bread served for the Passover holiday. The center that he visited is composed of a preschool and Model Matzah Bakery that has been serving and teaching an approximate number of 2,000 kids about the Passover ceremony.
The main goal of this center is to educate the young ones the experience of exodus which has been thoroughly emphasized on the bible. The learners, both children and adult, are members of the Hasidic Jewish community.
Cruz, together with the three to four year old kids, altogether made some matzo while discussing some significant insights relating to the Passover and its observance in the community. Some inquired whether he tried or experienced consulting a rabbi or any other Jewish counselor for his faith. He replied that he’s in constant company, Nick Muzin, who often give him pieces of advice on particular matters.
After a short while, the matzo that the kids and the presidential candidate prepared was ready; in great joy, they together sang the Passover song “Dayenu” which means “It would have been enough”.
