Two police officers who escorted a drunk reveller home left him with a note of advice, signed from 80s US cop duo Cagney and Lacey.
The man, known only as David, was helped home by police officers, who left the note to remind him just how drunk he had been.
“We found you staggering in the road on your way home from Watford,” read the letter, which was written on Hertfordshire Constabulary notepaper.
“You were so drunk we were worried you wouldn’t get home in one piece! So we gave you a lift home.
“Please don’t get that drunk again. Love from Cagney and Lacey”
More than 40,000 Facebook users have so far liked the note, written at 2:20am on January 12 and posted on the UK Cop Humour page.
It was later retweeted by the official Hertfordshire Police Twitter account, asking the real Cagney and Lacey to ‘please stand up’.
