A 9-year-old Kokomo girl who began making bracelets and selling them for $1, with the goal of raising $300 to give to someone who lost their belongings in last month’s tornado has more than doubled her goal.
The Kokomo Tribune reports Kyndal Mellady has raised collected $624. The third-grader presented the money earlier this week along with tags that read “hope,” ”peace” and “love” to Phyllis Rawlins, who lost her home on Nov. 17.
Rawlins plans to use a portion of the money to make a plaque to remember the gift. She hugged Kyndal and told her she will never forget her.
Despite losing the home she built with her late husband, Rawlins says she has been blessed and called Kyndal her “little angel.”
