Jesus Christ… Just seen my twin in the ice bath!!!’ Carroll posts picture of him in Speedos with his new giant beard
It seems West Ham’s record signing Andy Carroll is preparing for his return from injury with some spiritual healing after posing in an ice bath with his arms outstretched.
The England man, with a fully grown beard, hasn’t played for the club this season since his £15million move from Liverpool.
But he is close to a return, when West Ham need him most, and Tweeted: ‘Jesus Christ…… Just seen my twin in the ice bath!!!’
Fans have grown frustrated at the lack of goals, Big Sam’s decision to play without a striker and the club’s current league position, so a return for the former Geordie messiah will be a welcome one.
Earlier in the week, West Ham co-owner David Sullivan expressed his regret at signing the striker permanently.
Road to recovery: Carroll had been receiving treatment on his foot at the Move to Cure centre in Antwerp
Makeshift: With the absence of Carroll West Ham have struggled, with Kevin Nolan taking a more advanced role
‘Had we known he would be out for this long, we would not have signed him,’ Sullivan told the BBC’s Football Focus.
‘We are not a rich enough club to deal with that. You know any player can get injured, but we can’t buy a player knowing he is going to be out for half the season.
‘When we signed him we were assured by the medical staff that the very, very latest he would be back was September 1. That would have meant he would only miss two league games.’
Responding to Sullivan’s comments, West Ham manager Sam Allardyce said: ‘Understanding the size of the investment I can understand why he said that.
‘But he also said that only at the end of the season we will be able to judge whether Andy Carroll is a good player or not.’
