‘Everyone is getting naked… put it away!’: Katy Perry criticises fellow female pop stars for raunchy onstage antics despite being pictured nude on her album cover

She is known for her own sexy onstage outfits and even once shot whipped cream out of her bra.

But Katy Perry, who burst onto the scene with her hit song ‘I Kissed a Girl’, spent her 29th birthday giving a radio interview marveling about how ‘strange’ it is that her fellow female pop stars are stripping down.

‘Everybody’s getting naked,’ the singer said to NPR host Scott Simon in an interview she gave Oct. 25, but didn’t air until Saturday.  ‘I mean, I’ve been naked before but I don’t feel like I have to always get naked to be noticed.’

Who was Perry referring to exactly?

Sick of the old song and dance: Katy Perry, who performed at the Young Survival Coalition in Hollywood on Oct. 23, says female pop stars need to ‘inspire’ fans and stop ‘getting naked’

‘I’m talking about all of them!’ Perry said her female pop stars should ‘put it away’ and become an inspiration to female fans.

Although it appeared she was directing her comments at best gal pal Rihanna as well as Miley Cyrus, the Roar star refused to name names.

‘I’m not talking about anyone in particular,’ she said.

‘I’m talking about all of them. I mean, it’s like everybody’s so naked. It’s like put it away. We know you’ve got it. I got it too. I’ve taken it off for – I’ve taken it out here and there. And I’m not necessarily judging. I’m just saying sometimes it’s nice to play that card but also it’s nice to play other cards.’

Brought up Christian by parents who are both Pentecostal pastors, the award winning singer still abides by a strict moral code.

When not on stage, she tends to dress in demure outfits.

Although Perry eschewed the notion of being a ‘role model’ to her fans, she told NPR she would prefer to ‘to be seen as an inspiration.

‘I do see myself becoming this, whatever, inspiration out of default right now, ’cause it’s such a strange world.’
