The Bolton-born star enjoyed a long-distance relationship with the 21-year-old political science student before enjoying a week-long elaborate Islamic ceremony in New York.
Following that the couple, who got engaged in January 2012, held an even bigger wedding in Amir’s hometown of Bolton, with a reported 4,000 guests in attendance.
Speaking at the time of the wedding to Hello magazine Amir said: ‘I’ve lived the young life, I’ve done everything I’ve wanted to do. Now is the right time to settle down and start my own family.’
Ahead of their special day however the couple found their relationship rocked after reports alleged that Amir had cheated on Faryal twice in one day.
At the time the Sun reported that the sports star had fooled around with two women while on holiday in Marbella with his friends.
A young lady came forward and claimed Amir had kissed her in a hot tub while she was stripped down to her underwear.
Another woman claimed she had met up with the boxer on four consecutive days and spent two night at his villa during the holiday.
At the time Amir, who had been in his trouble with his fiancée before for alleged trysts with women, took to Twitter to defend himself while still on holiday:
‘U all know I’m engaged and love my fiance to @faryalxMakhdoom to bits,’ (sic) he wrote.
A spokesperson for Amir confirmed the news that they are expecting a child together to the Mail Online on Sunday.
