Let’s hear it for Killian. The black Lab and German shepherd mix is being hailed as a hero after saving the 7-month-old son of his owners, Benjamin and Hope Jordan, from an abusive baby-sitter. Alexis Khan, 22, had been babysitting for the Charleston, S.C., couple’s son, Finn, for five months when they noticed that Killian, normally docile, grew agitated and aggressive around her, trying to protectively get between Kahn and the baby. Due to the dog’s behavior, the Jordans grew suspicious and placed an iPhone set to record under the sofa. Listening to the tape, they heard Khan swearing at the baby and — horribly — the sound of slapping, followed by the baby’s pained cry.
They rushed Finn to the hospital; thankfully, he was OK. The police confronted Khan, who confessed. She has been sentenced to serve one to three years in prison and will be placed on a child abuse registry, preventing her from working with children in the future. Finn is now thriving, showing no lingering symptoms of abuse. That’s all thanks to Killian. “Had our dog not alerted us to the trouble … it could have been Finn that was killed by the baby-sitter,” Benjamin Jordan told WCSC. “You never know.” [Source] [Source]
