Katie Price has had a baby boy eight weeks early following a scary birth ordeal.
The former glamour model faced a nightmare birth scenario this week when she went into labour at 32 weeks in a foreign hospital.
She told The Sun that the medical staff wanted her to have an emergency caesarean section after the baby’s heart rate began to slow following her waters breaking and her amniotic sac tearing.
The little boy, who Katie and husband Kieran Hayler have named Jett Riviera, is now doing well but his heart rate and temperature are still being monitored.
Katie’s labour was so fast that she could even feel the pressure of the surgeon’s knife when he made the first incision for her C-section.
“I tried to tell the medical staff but no one understood me. I was begging them not to start the operation. I started making cutting signs with my fingers, saying, ‘No, no!’,” she told the newspaper.
“But the first incision was made and I could feel the pressure of it. Bringing life into the world is supposed to be magical. But what I went through was a nightmare.”
She said Kieran wasn’t allowed to be with her inside the theatre, which made her panic even more.
“I was sobbing, ‘I love you, I love you,’ as the doors swung shut behind me. It was like a scene from a dramatic film. I carried on pleading but no one could speak English well. I was hysterical,” she said.
And once the baby was out, Katie only had a few seconds to cuddle him before Jett had to be taken away for monitoring.
“The only thing that had got me through the nightmare was the thought of cradling my little boy. But he was only put near my face for seconds. I was really upset. I felt like punching someone,” Katie explained.
But after appealing to the nurses, the 5lb 2oz boy was allowed to return to his parents for a bonding session.
Katie has since been discharged from hospital and said she is looking forward to his siblings, Harvey – who was due to see Jett this weekend – Princess and Junior all meeting her newborn.
