hotographers have been inspired by their muses since time immemorial. For Richard Avedon it was Audrey Hepburn, while David Bailey was fascinated by Jean Shrimpton.
But Seattle photographer Jeremy Veach has a more surprising subject for his compositions: his pet pug Norm.
23-year-old Veach has been photographing Norm since he was a puppy, and the two were recently featured in mobile photography magazine, Ludique.
Selfie: It looks like Norm’s holding the camera, but it’s really his human Jeremy Veach, the photographer behind the creative canine compositions
Pals: Veach has documented his pug’s life ever since
Veach’s pictures aren’t the usual sleeping puppy pictures clogging up your instagram feed. Veach tries to capture the personality of Norm, and put him in unlikely situations
For example, one picture looks like Norm is taking a selfie, while another makes it look like Norm is uncontrollably laughing.
Veach drew inspiration for his series with Norm from other funny dog photographs like ‘Find Momo‘ and ‘Maddie the coonhound.’
Best friends: Veach makes sure to stay attuned to Norm’s feelings about being photographed but finds that most of the time he ‘gets really into it’
‘He loves pictures and gets really into it,’ Veach told Ludique. ‘And when there is something he doesn’t like, I can tell, and I just will move on to a new idea.’
Sometimes Jeremy will take pictures with the dog, but most of the time it’s Norm front and center.
Since starting to take daily pictures of Norm, Veach’s Instagram has gained nearly 29,000 followers.
Clinger: Norm doesn’t seem to like this sheep hanging around
Dress-up: Norm doesn’t seem too annoyed at being put in ridiculous outfits
