A burglar collapsed and died while raiding a business.
An accomplice ran for help and a relative of the dying 50-year-old arrived at the premises to try to revive him.
Police and paramedics then gave the burglar CPR but he died at the scene.
The raiders had targeted boilers, laptop computers, mobile phones, monitors and cash.
They were preparing to escape with loot worth between £5,000 and £10,000 when the man collapsed inside the HQ of Glevum Heating in Gloucester. A company spokesman said: “It’s very sad.
“No matter what has happened, a man has died here and our thoughts are with his family.”
Police are examining CCTV of the incident. A spokesman said “The death is being treated as unexplained.”
A 19-year-old man, from Gloucester, was arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with the case and was bailed until June 5.
A 47-year-old man, also from the city, has been charged with burglary.
He appeared at Cheltenham magistrates court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.
