t was the ultimate down to earth wedding, there were just 11 guests and some even wore flip flops.
Keira Knightley shed ‘tears of happiness’ on Saturday as she married her rock star boyfriend in the south of France.
But could Keira, 28, who said she wanted a ‘no frills’ wedding, recycled her wedding dress?
Mr and Mrs: Keira Knightley and James Righton looked picture perfect as they headed to the Mazan Town Hall, in France, where they married on Saturday
Recycled or just similar? Keira in her dress on Saturday and in 2008 at a pre-Bafta party in the Rodarte gown
Eagle-eyed fashion editors spotted Keira’s dress resembled a pretty Rodarte gown which she wore to a pre-Bafta party in 2008
LOOK magazine Senior Fashion and Beauty Editor, Erica Davies said: ‘She made it look quite different for her wedding, with a white Chanel tweed jacket, bare legs and ballet pumps, but it certainly looks like the same dress.’
Wearing a short dress and flowers in her hair, the actress was seen skipping for joy after exchanging vows with James Righton in a low-key ceremony.
Mr and Mrs Righton, as they have now become, tied the knot at the town hall in Mazan, a small town around 12 miles from Marseilles.
Keira previously joked about getting married in jeans and a t-shirt – but obviously she picked something a bit classier from her wardrobe.
‘It was a very moving ceremony,’ said an onlooker. ‘Keira looked extremely moved by the whole thing – there were certainly tears of happiness.
‘It was sunny day without a cloud in the sky. There were cheers of “Well done, Keira” when she came out, but there were so few people present so they didn’t make much noise.
‘It was amusing to see them being driven away in a battered old Renault Clio – it certainly looked as though it had seen better days.’
Some of the guests returned to the nearby Chateau de Mazan, where they are staying, to toast the happy couple with champagne.
Others headed straight to the £3 million estate owned by the actress’ family, about three miles outside of the medieval Provence town.
The eight-bedroom property, which is shielded by conifers, sits among 20 acres of vineyards and olive trees.
The starlet, who made her name in films like ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Jack Ryan’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’, is well known in France as the face of Chanel’s Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle perfume.
Locals in Mazan, which has a population of just over 5000, have got used to seeing her coming and going since her family bought the estate in 2010.
‘We are absolutely delighted for her,’ said Jean-Francois Durand, a near-neighbour.
